Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. We have been doing this blog for a while now but we are still getting new people reading it each week so this is for the new readers. There are 2 types of people on a Saturday night the people that go out partying and having a good time, and then there are the people that don’t go out (for whatever reason), well this blog is for the second group of people. I give you a suggestion on a movie that you can watch to pass the time.

This week I am going with an all action movie Battle Field LA. This isn’t going to be everyones cup of tea but as I said this is just a suggestion. The Story is based around a SSgt Nantz (played by Aaron Eckhart) who is about to retire from the core when meteors start falling from space and the world quickly finds out that it is no meteor shower it is in fact an alien invasion. Nantz is sent to a platoon that is sent behind enemy line to clare out the civilians from a police station and get them back to the FOB (forward operating base) before the Air Force bomb the coastline of LA. Their rescue helicopter gets shoot down, so they have to find there own way out of the bombing zone.

This is one of my favourite action movies because it takes a lot of things that I like and puts it into the one movie. It is an army movie, an invasion, a Sci fi movie and a survival movie. One of my favourite show is Stargate because it put the US army against aline forces who are stronger but the army keeps fighting anyways, and that is exactly what Battlefield LA is about. The action sequence are very good and looks great. It is one of those movies that you should just sit back and enjoy and not think to hard about it. When Battlefield came out first it got slated by the critics but I was glad  that I didn’t listen to them because I really enjoyed the movie. The thing about critics is that everyone is different and like different films so it is really only an opinion of one person.

Hi everyone and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. If this is you first time with us I will give you a quick explanation as to what it is about. The way I see it there is 2 groups of people on a Saturday night the ones the go out and party and the ones that stay in and relax. Well this blog is for the second of those 2 groups. If you stay in on a Saturday night then I want to give you something that you can watch and enjoy to pass the time. (you can check out other Saturday Night Stay In Movies here)

So with that in mind lets get started, this week I went with a good action movie from the 90’s (most action movies from the 90’s were good). The movie is Independence Day, the reason i picked Independence Day is because later on this month (27 June) nearly 20 years to the day of the releases of the first movie the second Independence Day movie will be released. Independence Day is a epic invasion movie. The invaders are aliens from outer space (don’t let that stop you from watching this movie). and it is up to the United States Air Force to save the world (again don’t let that put you off this movie) Independence Day stars Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. This was the movie that shoot smith to supper stardom.

Screen Shot 2016-06-17 at 11.17.47

I was 9 when it first came out and it is one of the first movies I remember seeing with good special effects and I loved it. This was the movie that made me want to get into make films. I wanted to go behind the scenes and see how it was made and the editing I just fell in love with it, for some people it was Schindler’s List for its story telling and the way it was shoot, for me it was Independence Day because it should me no mater how out there your idea for a movies was you could make it happen, which for a boy with as an active imagination as mine was great to know and I just went from there.

Enough about me back to the film as I said the special effects were top class at the time and they still look good today. On top of that Smith was good in it he was funny when he needed to be, but he was able to act serious when need as well and he worked well with Goldblum. Then there was that speech given by the president before the last battle, every time I hear it I get geared up and ready for a battle

Hi Viewers and welcome to an other Tv Rewind Last weeks TV Rewind was 24, check it out here, which reminded me that one of the stars of the first few seasons, Dennis Haysbert who played the president in, to star in his own show, The Unit.

The Unit ran from 2006-2009 and was about a black ops team who were sent around the world on top secret missions that no one else could do. Each week was a new mission, but also showed how the solders families dealt with leading secret lives. The show ran for 4 seasons and was cancelled in 2009 ending on a cliff hanger, with Molly Blane, giving her husband, Jonas ( the team leader) a choice her or the Unit. There was a 5 and final season planed by executive producer Shawn Ryan but it never got the green light which is a shame because it wold of being nice to see how the story ended and what happened to the characters but that is show business.

Screen Shot 2015-10-08 at 09.01.43

The Unit had some grate actors in it as I said at the top Dennis Haysbert stared along side Robert Patrick, Max Martini, Scoot Foley, Audrey Marie Anderson, Abby Brammell, and Regina Taylor, to say but a few and together they made up a great with a great executive producer Shawn Ryan (the creator of The Shield).

The show had everything that I liked a lot of action and a lot of drama, and each week you got a new mission/story line, with the overall story line of family life in the Unit in the background. The way I would describe The Unit is Army Wives For the lads. Have you aver seen The Unit, let me know what you taught of it by leaving comment below. Hi Viewers and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. The SNSIM is simple if you are not going out this weekend then I recommend a movie that you might like to watch. This week it is the 2001 Swordfish Staring Halle Barry, Hugh Jackman, John Travolta, Don Cheadle and Vinnie Jones to say but a few.

Screen Shot 2015-10-02 at 09.01.39

It tells the story the world most dangerous spy who is hired by the CIA to coerce a computer hacker recently released from prison to help steal $6 billion in unused government funds. Now form that synopsis it doesn’t sound like the best movie but I would like to bring your attention you back to the end of the last paragraph  where I listed some of the great actors in this movie so have faith in it. There was something in this film that did over shadow everything and for me was unnecessary and that was Halle Barry’s topless scene now don’t get me from my point of view of a man it was great but as a point of view of a someone just watching the film it was unnecessary, it didn’t add to the film it wasn’t artistic, it seemed like it was just put in there simply to have one of the hottest actors of the time to be topless.

Other then that I like the script and the I liked the cast over all I liked this movie and I think it is a good way to spend a Saturday night if you are not going out, but I will warn you that I wouldn’t start watching it until you put the kids to bed it’s defiantly not for their eyes. Here is the trailer for you have a look

Hi Viewers and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind. This week we are looking back at action thriller 24. Now I know what you are thinking 24 was only on a last year and you would be right to an extent, there was a shortened half season last year, 24 Live Another Day, this was showing 4 years after the original show was canceled in 2010. 24 first aired all the way back in 2001, yes 14 years ago it is hard to believe, and quickly became one of the best loved show on TV mainly because of the main charter Jack Bauer, and the way the show followed real time, it had never been done before. 24 originally ran for 8 seasons spanning 192 episodes with the series finale broadcast on May 24, 2010. In that time there was also a TV movie between season 6 season 7 and it was called 24: Redemption,

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 09.06.59

The main character of the show was Jack Bauer who was played by Kiefer Sutherland. He had a pretty descent film career before he took the 24 role, he was in such movies as Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, Young Guns Flatliners, and A Few Good Men. Kiefer Sutherland was perfect for the role of CTU agent (Counter Terrorist Unit) Jack Bauer. Bauer was a troubled man who would give everything, even his life for his country and he would not be afraid to go rouge if he taught it was the right thing to do. He also had a family who featured heavily in the first few seasons.

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 09.06.41

24 was one of my favourite shows to watch during the 2000’s I would never miss a show. As the seasons went on 24 turned into a family event with everyone sitting down to watch what would happen this week after the cliff hanger of last week (every episode was left on a cliff hanger) It was grate TV and at its hight in seasons 5 and 6 it seemed like everyone was watching it and talking about it.

There has been talk about a movie but those plans were scripted in favour of a half 9th season  which aired in 2014 which brought the episode count up to 204. There was also talk about jakes partner in seasons 9, Kate Morgan played by Yvonne Strahovski, but nothing ever came of that. Now Fox has hinted at a spin off show, with out Sutherland, to be developed we will have to wait and see. Did you watch 24 let me know what you taught of it by leaving a comment below. Hi Viewers and welcome to an other Video of The Week. A few weeks ago I should a few action short films some were good and some were not so good, and in their reviews I stated how hard it was to find a good action short movie because, well frankly they are expensive to make.

So keeping in mind how hard it is to find a good action short, I managed to find one this week with out even looking for it. I was searching the web for a new Video of The Week looking at different short drams when I cam across RED-The Ambush.

Red is about a elite team of U.S. Navy SEALs is trapped deep in hostile territory amongst an international crisis that has spun out of control in the Caucasus region. Russia is at war with Georgia and several other break-away republics in the region. The U.S. has publicly declared a neutral stance on the unfolding crisis, but the situation has recently become more complicated. U.S.  intel has confirmed that WMDs from an unknown source have fallen into the hands of the separatist rebels fighting in the war in support of the Russian army.

There is not much of a storyline until you read the synopsis, which i suggest you do the film will make a lot more sense. First of all I want to talk about the look of the movie the costumes look very real with a lot of attention given to detail, from the camo gear to the weapons that they are using. The only problem I have with this film is I don’t think that a Navy SEALs team would attack a compound without knowing its full strength i.e. man power weapons how close is back up stuff like that but I’m not in the army never mind special forces so I can literally not speak to that point.

Over all I think it is a good film well made with good special effects. The script sounds good as well and the commutes look good as well. I think that this is a very good short film and I give it 4 out of 5. What did you think of it let me know by leaving a comment below. Hi Viewers and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. This week we are going back to 2008 and to a film that in my mind not only relaunched an actors career but also launched a company to become one of the biggest film studios around and that film is Iron Man.

Iron Man was released in 2008, wow it doesn’t seem that long ago, and was directed by Jon Favreau, and stared Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and Terrence Howard. It was even nominated for 2 Oscars. It earned a world wide taken of over $585 million agents a budget of $140 million so it was a success. the critics also loved it.

Iron Man was the first instalment of in Marvels Cinematic Universe, which included The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2 Thor and Captain America. All these films was to set up Marvel’s The Avengers which went on to gross over 1.5 billion. These movies were also knowing as Marvels First Phases.

So back to Iron Man Tony Stark (played by Downey) is a play boy billion air that runs his fathers weapons company and he is also a master engineer. When he is out selling a new weapon to proactive buyers they get a bushed and he is injured and captured. he is forced to build weapons of mast distortion for his captures. Instead he builds an exoskeleton and escapes. When he is back in the real word he cant forget about the suit so he gets to work making it better.

Screen Shot 2015-09-18 at 08.27.34

The reason this movie was so successful was down to one thing Robert Downey Jr’s performance he was brilliant. now don’t get me wrong his supporting cast was grate as well but Doweny had such an on screen prance he just took over the screen whenever he was on it, also the action scenes were very great as well. All in all this was a top class movie and if you haven’t seen it yet, and you are staying in this Saturday night you should check it out, even if you have seen it watch it again it holds up the second time around. Here is the trailer enjoy

Hi Viewers its time for an other Saturday Night Stay In Movie. This week we are going with an all out action movie, Act of Valor. Act of Valor is a War film directed by Mike McCoy and Scoot Waugh, and written by Kurt Johnstad. You might think this is just your run of the mill action film with gun battles and lots of explosions, well it is but it also has one extra thing that other action film don’t have the actors playing the Navy SEALs are acutely Active duty U.S. Navy SEALs and U.S. Navy Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewmen. The Acting was not great in this movie (I will let you tell the Navy SEALs that) but when it comes to the action scenes this movie is second to none. You can teach actors the way the SEALs walk and carry out there missions but it will never be the same as the really thing these guys truing their whole lives to do what they do and you cant teach that in a few months of prep for a movie.

Screen Shot 2015-09-11 at 08.31.11

The storyline is in the Philippines a terrorist kills the U.S ambassador, his son and Dozens of children at a school, using a vehicle-borne IED disguised as an ice cream truck. The master Mind escapes to a training Camp in Indonesia. Also in Costa Rica, two CIA agents are getting intel on a drug smuggler but one get killed and the other gets taken and tortured time tho send in the SEALs and let them they do what they do.

This is one of my favourite action movies for while now and I don’t know why maybe its because whiny you hear that the SEALs are SEALs in real life, you start thinking is this what they go through on really missions, and any action movie that gets you thinking is doing something special. Let me know what you think of the movie by leaving a comment below if this is not your sort of movie then check out last weeks suggestion here. Hi Viewers and welcome to this Weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie, this week I am picking one of my favorite action films Bad Boys 2. Directed by Michael Bay and staring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as the dysfunctional partners, Burnett and Lowrey. The drug ecstasy is flowing into Miami and the police want it stopped. Police Detective Marcus Burnett and his partner, Mike Lowrey are just the men to do it. They track the drugs to a Cuban smuggler Johnny Tapia, who is also involved in a bloody war with Russian and Haitian mobsters.

Screen Shot 2015-08-21 at 09.16.18

Bad Boys 2 is the second film in the series (with an other two films conformed by the studio for release 2017 and 2019) The Film was slammed by critics saying it was over the top and to long, the humor was not funny, now people are entailed to their opinion, and my opinion was maybe it was a bit too long but that was the only bad thing I could say about the film. The thing is if you go into Bad Boys 2 expecting deep a taught provoking film then you will be disappointed but if you go in expecting lots of funny moments sprinkled between explosion then you will love it, it is mindless fun. The film also has one of my favorite car chase scenes that involves flying boats and cars yes you read it correctly I said flying boats and cars.

Screen Shot 2015-08-21 at 09.21.08

Over all this is a funny action film with lots of explosions. Sometimes it is nice to switch the brain off and just enjoy something, and you can do that with this film. Here is the trailer for Bad Boys 2

This week for the TV Rewind we are doing something a little different we are going to take a look back and WWE are as it was knowing back then WWF. Now the WWE has been around for a long time, since February 1980, so there is a lot of stuff of story lines that I could be talking about.

I should explain WWE is like soap opera with lots of fighting so it has a lot of mail fans and back in the late 90’s and early naughts it was at its hight of popularity. So much so that the then WWF was able to buy two other wrestling companies WCW and ECW which set up a brilliant story line knowing as The Invasion where ECW and WCW invaded WWF and as one of the commentators said the whole time all hell broke lose. To me this was the best thing I have ever seen on TV (at the time) This story line was building to a paper per view event called Survivor Series in which two teams one made up of WWF and One made up of ECW and WCW would fight it out to see who would win get control of the company. So everyone had to choose sides which lead us to my favourite part of The Invasion, the most popular wrester in WWF (Stone Cold Steve Austin), after months of working with ECW and WCW he decides to come back to WWF. Take a look at what happens.
