The Walking Dead Complants
Aaron Tansey
November 24, 2016

What’s up everyone. I was looking through Facebook last night and I cam over a story for the English Sun newspaper in which is stated that Ofcom (Ofcom are the communication regulator in Britain and they make  sure that shows adhere to the Ofcom Broadcasting Code, you can check out exactly what they are here)

It seems that thousands of complaints where made to the organisation, that the was to much violence in the walking dead season 7 opening episode. The statement released said ” We’er (Ofcom) investigating scenes of a very strong violence shortly after the 9pm watershed, and whether these scenes were Justified by the context.

I have a few questions and thoughts on this so here it goes. First of all it was on after the water shade time of 9pm so at that stage you can expect to see more mature themes on TV. So straight away I have to wonder why people were complaining.

Next The Walking Dead is a very popular show and as I said this was the start of the seventh season so it has being around for a while. As it has being on the air for quite a few years and has had a big following throughout those years I have to ask people how did you not see something like this coming. It is a horror show based in the zombie apocalypse there is going to be blood and gore.

Next point. This show is based on a comic book that has a very big readership, and this was one of the stories coved in the comic books so a lot of people already kew what was going to happen.

Ok I have covered everything I wanted to say to the people that might of being fans of the show and still have complained about it. Now onto the much more likely group of people to have complained about the show, people that might not have seen it or heard about it before.

So first of all the people that might have heard about the show and but never watched it  and taught you might take a look for the first time. IF you were at work and all your work friends were talking about the return of the walking dead and how Negan was going to kill (this would have being a big clue that there was going to be violence) and you didn’t want to be left out, so you decide to watch it.The show is called the walking dead so thats an other big clue. You still don’t have an excuse to be shocked because FX Uk puts up a warning stating that there would be strong violence for the start (this is your third and biggest clue that there will be violence in the show)

Ok this brings me onto the last group of people, the Channel suffers. These are the most likely people to have sent in a complaint about the show. They could being flicking through the channels to watch something and they might have come across the walking dead after the opening credits. I still don’t think they have a reason to complain because as you flick onto a channel it give you the name of the show that is playing and again you decide to stop and watch a show called the walking dead you can’t expect it be to a neature show.

Ok this is the end of my rant I could be wrong about this, let me know what you think by leaving a comment in the comment box below. Thanks for reading.

November 14, 2016

It has being a while since I have written a post, that is because I have being trying to focus more on video content, so hopefully you will start to see some of that coming on line soon.

The reason I want to write this post today was because I was having a conversation with a few on my friends about the TV shows that are on these days and what they taught of them. One show came up that they didn’t like was The Big Bang Theory. Now when I say they didn’t like it Im not talking about the last few seasons which have not being the best, They didn’t like the show at all.

Well I had to ask why on one of the lads said he didn’t like anything made by Chuck Lorre, The Big Bang Theory, Tow and a Half Men, and Mom to say just a few. Again I asks why, what was the reason and he taught about it for a second and then he said its because of the laugh track. He then started name comedy shows that he did like, Veep, Scrubs, Modern Family. when I got home I looked up these shows, and I found out that they have no laugh track.

I watch these shows as well as the one with a laugh track and I never payed any notice to the fact there was or wasn’t a laugh track. They next thing I done was to try and find clips of the shows with laugh track taken out of them. I taught this was going to be hard but it wasn’t and it only took me 1 minute to find

I think that the laugh tracks are put in to tell the audience when its time to laugh. The laugh track treats its audience like sheep and when you here laughing you start to laugh as well. But when a show doesn’t have a laugh track I think the actors have to work harder to sell the jokes and the writers have to work harder to write better jokes as well.

At the end of the day if you laugh at a show and have fun watching it dose it matter if the reason you laughed was because of a laugh track or not. To me not it doesn’t matter but to some people it dose. As I said I don’t care what makes me laugh as long as I laugh and have fun but it is interesting to see the shows that air with laugh track played back with out the laugh track.

What do you think about this, do you care if there is a laugh track or not. Let me know by leaving a comment in the comment box below. Also let me know what is your favourite comedy show with and without a laugh track. Thanks for reading until next time Keep on Viewing.

Hi and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind. If this is your first time to be reading TV Rewind then I hope you enjoy it. TV Rewind is where we take a look back at some of the shows that have come and gone off our screens over the years and this week is no different.

This week we are going back to 2004, and taking a look at Deadwood.

Deadwood is set in 1870’s Deadwood, South Dakota. This was after the civil war when South Dakota still belonged to the Native Americans, and before it was annexed to become part of the United States. Because it was not part of the States there was no law in the town of Deadwood, so the people governed themselves.

Screen Shot 2016-09-01 at 11.12.40

At this time Deadwood was in the middle of the gold rush and people from all over the world came to the small mining camp to make their fortune at the mining. Then you had the people that wanted to make their money off the miners, like hotels, salons, hardware stores and so on, but in a town with no laws only the strong and the powerful will survive.

I have only started watching this show recently, but I am glad that I did start watching it because it is one of those shows that was very good but didn’t get the recognition that it deserved.

The way I would describe it would be the Sopranos in the Wilde Wilde West. It has a lot of bad language a lot of violence, and a lot of back stabbing. One of the main characters is Al Swearengen played by Ian McShane. He owns one of the Salons in Deadwood, where he offers drink, girls and gambling.

The other main character is Seth Bullock played by Timothy Olyphant. He was a law man before he and his friend Sol Star (John Hawkes) moved to Deadwood to open a Hardware store. Seth is the complete opposite to Al in every way. He believes in right and wrong and the fare deal never taking more then is owed. Naturally Seth and Al don’t get along with each other. There relationship makes for some great moments.

Screen Shot 2016-09-01 at 11.14.35

There is also a lot of historical figures that show up in Deadwood. The likes of Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jean, and Wyatt Earp and more people like that.

This is one of the show that fans of crime show must watch. I highly recommend it. If you have seen Deadwood let me know what you taught of it by leaving a comment in the comment box below. There is some good news for the fans of the show a Deadwood is in the works so the story is not over yet.

Dangerous Minds Trailer thumbnail

Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. If this is your first time to hear about S.N.S.I.M it is simple.

The way I see it there is two groups of people on a Saturday night. The ones that go out partying and having fun and the ones that stay in for whatever reason. S.N.S.I.M is for the second group of people.

I will suggest a movie that you could watch with that will pass the time for you.

This week it is Dangerous Minds staring Michelle Pheiffer as a former Marine who get a job teaching a class of at risk underachieving students that has no respect for authority.

Screen Shot 2016-08-12 at 17.19.21

She must gain the respect of her class before she can start teaching them anything. This was based on the autobiography of LouAnne Johnson a retired U.S Marine who took up teaching at Carlmount High School in Belmont California.

The movie was a panned by critics when it was first released but went on to make over $170 million at the box office.(It just shows you that reviews are just the opinion of the writer and just because a movie gets bad reviews doesn’t mean its a bad movie but some reviews do get it right like Fantastic Four)

I didn’t see this movie when it was first released It must have been 5 years later when I first got to see it, but when I did finally get to watch it I did really like it.

Screen Shot 2016-08-12 at 17.19.46

I taught Michelle Pheiffer was very good in it and I just liked the story over all. I don’t want to call it a feel good movie but in a way it is. You have a person trying to do the right thing and help the kids out and to a certain extant it works but she cant change them all. Check out the trailer

When you talk about Dangerous Mind you have to talk about that song as well which became an instant classic. Coolio’s Gangster Paradise. Too this day when it comes on the radio I cant help but sing along.

Have you seen Dangerous Minds if you have let me know what you taught about it by leaving a comment below. If you would like to suggest a movie for next weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie just leave you suggestion in the comment box. You can also check out last weeks S.N.S.I.M here. Hi and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind. If this is your first time reading TV Rewind, then welcome. The Idea of TV Rewind is to look back at some of the shows that we used to watch growing and maybe still watch today. This week is no different.

This week we are going back to 1987 and we are taking a look at Star Trek The Next Generation.

Star Trek The Next Generation was the follow up too the original Star Trek show. It first aired in 1987 and ran fro 7 years and 4 movies. The show stared Patrick Stewart, Wil Wheaten, and  Whoopi Goldberg to name a few. It was set 70 years after the end of original Star Trek finished. This was the sixth crew to take charge of the famous Enterprise.

Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 08.49.17

The show enjoyed the same success that followed the original show and became one of NBC’s most watched show on their network. It ran for  over 170 episodes.

The show was cancelled after the seventh season which was a shock to the cast and crew because it was enjoying constantly high ratings, plus the cast was contracted for an eight season. Many believe it was cancelled because the cost of wages would get to expensive also there was movies planed and the network taught the movies would perform better if there wasn’t a show on at the same time.

When the Next Generation came out it cause a divide in the Star Trek fans. They could not agree on who was a better captain, was it Captain Kirk, Star Trek Original (William Shatner) or Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) Which was your favourite let me know by leaving a comment below.

Screen Shot 2016-08-11 at 08.51.24

Over all Star Trek The Next Generation was a much loved show and could have gone on for a few more seasons if it wanted. Did you watch Star Trek the Next Generation, if you did let me know what you taught about it by leaving comment below in the comment box. Suicide Squad Review
Blog Box Office New Release Review

On Friday night I got the chance to go and see the most highly anticipated movie of the summer Suicide Squad. It had already had its world premiere a few days before that. The reviews were out and it didn’t look good. Matter of fact it was nearly as badly reviewed as Batman VS Superman, and we all know how that ended up.

I chose to ignore all the reviews and go into the movie with an open mind, mainly because the first trailer I seen was so damn good. You know the one Im on about, it was the second trailer for Suicide Squad with Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. It was one of the best trailers i have ever seen for a movie.

On the back of that I wasn’t going to let a few bad reviews stop me from enjoying this movie.

I would like to point out that Suicide Squad is indeed better then Batman vs Superman (that wouldn’t be hard), but it is still a movie that I didn’t enjoy.

First of all the first half of the movie seems to be one big long music video as they are introducing the characters they have song after song, which is ok to a certain point, but when you get to the stage when your sound track is better then your movie you know you have done something wrong. I think they had such success with the trailer they tried to brig as much as that into the movie as possible, but less is more in some ceases.

Screen Shot 2016-08-07 at 16.29.03

Next thing I didn’t like about the movie was Jared Leto’s Joker I seen what he was trying to do by been even crazier then Heath Ledger’s Joker in the Dark Knight. There was two problems with that first of all Heat Ledger played the perfect Joker in that movie and no one will ever be able to top that performance. Second was that Leto’s Joker seemed to be angry the whole time and that was why he was crazy where I think the Joker did all the evil stuff cause he enjoyed doing it and that is what makes the Joker crazy but that could be just me. Let me know what you think.

The next thing that I didn’t like about the movie was the bad guys. In the comics the Suicide Squad was fighting for the good side because they had a chip in their heads that would explode if they didn’t. In the movie this is the same way but the Squad also want to risk their lives for the greater good and that doesn’t sound like something the worst of the worst would do. The Squad are trying to atone for their actions it felt like.

Also the people that are controlling them are meant to be good guys (how good can they be if they stick a bomb in someones head so they will do as they are told) but throughout the movie you see the good guys are as evil or more so then the villains. I would of enjoyed the movie more if you had the Squad fighting their captures as well as the big bad but again that is just me.

This was the first time that Will Smith was to play a bad guy. I don’t think he did played a bad guy, he played a guy who wants to change for his daughter but in the comics he has a death wish and that is why he said he would join the team this would drastically change the way Deadshot should be played I think.I do think that Margot Robbie played Harley Quinn as the girls who was driven mad by the Joker and wants to get back to here love. I think that she stole the show from Will Smith.

Writers Block
Aaron Tansey
July 28, 2016
Screen Shot 2016-07-28 at 17.48.20

Hi everyone.

I’m currently trying to write a script for a short movie to make this September, but I’ve got a bad case of writers block!!

Its Difficult! Who Knew!!

I started thinking about what causes writers block and perversely decided to write about it in the hope of purging my tortured writer’s soul.

I claim full responsibility for all opinions (no one else will), and although I’ll admit to having a small bit of guidance on the mechanics of writing scripts I’m no expert.

The layout is crucial but I’ve been assured that you can write whatever you wish.

Google defines writer’s block as;

“the condition of being unable to think of what to write or how to proceed with writing”

Screen Shot 2016-07-28 at 17.50.18

And there my problem right there, I have my start, I have my middle and I have the conclusion I’m just struggling to piece it together. There’s no flow.

Not Good.

The dialogue in particular is difficult.

When I’m writing dialogue I start by sitting down and thinking about each characters back story. Figuring out the sort of personality each character would have is important as each will have a unique voice shaped by their story and experiences.

So develop a complete, comprehensive history and profile for each character which you can refer to as a source which informs your writing dialogue.

You’ll know immediately if this sounds plausible and works.

A second common tip is to write about what you know, (some people would say that’s my problem solved right there),

If you know a subject writing about it comes more easily. For example I have a back ground in both Rugby and Boxing so I feel comfortable referencing these in storylines and building these into character backgrounds

When you stray from what you know however that’s when the difficulties begin.  You need to start researching points and this makes for stilted, disconnected content which lacks flow and credibility.

Screen Shot 2016-07-28 at 17.51.52

I don’t know a great deal about science so I would not try and start writing a movie about science or scientists. I wouldn’t have a clue where to start or what the characters should sound like.

Always get a second per of eyes on your script and ask for constructive criticism. This is important because looking at your own script for an extended period causes tunnel vision. You risk missing plot holes or areas for improvement.

So for example if I am writing a female part, I ask one of my female friends to take a look at the script and confirm that the dialogue is believable.  Does a woman sound like this, would a woman act in this manner? (make sure you show them the characters back ground so they can understand the characters motivation).

The person you show it to docent have to be able to write a script they just have to be able to read it.

So to recap writer’s block is a pain and it can happen to anyone at any time. I’ve suggested a few things which help me to get over writers block.

Have your characters back story written and understand the temperament of your characters. Ask someone to read what you have written and ask them to give you some pointers (even a bad idea might get you writing again). These don’t always work and there are multiple ways which people use to get over it.

The main thing is you find what works for you. If you have never written a script before keep an eye out as I will be putting up another post specifically about this topic very soon. Thanks for reading.  If you have any question leave a comment in the box below and I will get back to you.

Until next time keep on viewing.

Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. Now most of you will know what this is about but I will explain to the people that don’t know what the Saturday Night Stay In Movie is about. It is quite simple, there is two types of people on a Saturday night the people that go out parting and the people that stay in for what ever reason, well this blog is for the second group of people on a Saturday night the ones that stay in for what ever reason. I suggest a movie that you can watch to pass the time, see didn’t I tell you it was simple.

Well this week we are going al the way back to 2001 for our Saturday Night Stay In Movie. It is The Last Castle. In my mind this is one of the most underrated movies ever (but that is just my opinion) It stars Robert Retford, James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo, and Delroy Lindo. Retford stars as Lieutenant General Eugene Irwin, a legendary solder who on his last mission disobeyed a direct order from the commander and chief ( the President) and got 8 of his men killed. He was sentence to 10 years in the Castle Military Prison. He just wanted to keep his head down and do his time but it becomes clare that he has and other battle to fight this time agents the warden of the person Col. Winter (James Gandolfini), who is ruling over the prison.

Screen Shot 2016-07-15 at 12.15.20Screen Shot 2016-07-15 at 12.15.07

When this came out in 2001 it was meat with mixed reviews and only made 27 million at the world box office, but I think this was due to the fact that 9/11 had just happens a month earlier and the world was not sure what what was going to happen. I didn’t find this film until 2005 when I was looking for a movie to watch in my local extravsion I took a chance on it and Im glad I did I loved it. The acting was top class the story was good and the action was very good. Altho now that I look back at it there was one big hole in the story, How did the prisoners get all the weapons made and hidden while under the watch of the grads. Im sure it was filmed but ended up on the cutting room floor for what ever reason.

Over all this is a good movie that is well acted. I think you will enjoy it. Let me know what you think about it by leaving a comment in the comment box below. If you would like to suggest a movie for next weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie you can leave your suggestion in the comment box below. You can also check out last weeks Stay in movie here. Paper Towns Review

Hi everyone how are you keeping. It is time for an other film review. First a bit of background about last weekend. Well, I was at a music festival in Bundoran Co. Donegal and it was one of the best music festivals I have been at. It had an attendance of just over 5000 people and some grate performers like Gavin James, Ash, and Tinie Tempah to mention just a few. What has this got to do with a movie review, well when I got home after 3 days of partying, I was the worse for wear and I wanted to know nothing about the outside world I just wanted to be left alone I could get through the hangover from hell. My way of doing this was to watch movies for the day.

I had found 3 movies on Sky Movies on Demand that I taught I would have liked, I was wrong for the most part. The first movies was the Exorcism of Molly Hartley. what can I say about this movie other then it sucked. I was expecting to be scared out of my mind but instead I was just board out of my mind. It wasn’t scary the make up wasn’t the best which aded to it not being scary and the acting of the priest was just phoned in, well that was just my opinion, plus the story line was pretty much the same as all the other movies like this. Just to give you an in site to what dose scare me The Exorcist from start to finish it a movies that I still watch with the lights on. Ok so the first choice wasn’t great time for the second one, The Fantastic Four. I have heard a lot of bad things about this movie so much so that I taught there would be no way a studio would release a movie this bad unfortunately I was wrong and they did. I will start with the acting It wasn’t great next up was the story telling it really sucked an hour in and I was like “will you give them there powers all ready” shortly after that I have done something I haven’t done in a long time and I switched it off I was done with that movie. I usually tell people take a look for yourself  but I’m not going to bother with this one as if I do you will be pissed of with me for wasting your time.

Screen Shot 2016-06-29 at 10.33.53Screen Shot 2016-06-29 at 10.34.27

It wasn’t looking good at this point until I came to the third movie Paper Towns. Paper Towns comes from the novel of the same name, and also brought to you by the same people that brought you The Fault in Our Stars. The story is that the Geek in high school likes the most popular girl in high school who just happens to live next door. One night she comes into his room and ask him for help with a few things but docent tell him what, he reluctantly goes with her to pull pranks on people who has done her wrong and they have a great night doing it. The next day the Girl disappears but leaves clues to where she has gone and so the boy sets out trying to find her and bring her back with the help of his friends and they set in on a road trip. Yes I know a road trip in a coming of age teen romance movie it has been done, but it works

Screen Shot 2016-06-29 at 10.32.38

The reason it works is because of the characters that are going on the road trip you have the 3 geeky boys and the missing girls best friend (a popular girl) and a girlfriend of one of the guys. I will say it again the reason this movie works is because of the characters making it fun. You have Austin Abrams playing Ben Starling he is that friend you had in high school who always lies about the women he has slept with and just has a lot of confidence in the face of rejection. Then you have Justice Smith playing Marcus Lincoln he has a girlfriend but he is so afraid of messing it up that he will not introduce her to his friend are family. Then you have Nat Wolff’s character Quentin Jacobsen who is chasing down Margo the Missing girl played by Cara Delevingne. The you have the misunderstood popular girl played by Halston Sage, She wants to be seen as more then the good looking girl.

Screen Shot 2016-06-29 at 10.31.32

Over all I like this movie it was well told and kept you engaged. It wasn’t the best movie in the world but it pass the time and helped me over my hangover. Now It might have been the fact that the first 2 movies were so bad that I would have watched paint dry, I don’t know but I would recommend this movie for a date night movie. If you have seen it let me know what you taught of it by leaving a comment in the comment box below. You can also check out some other reviews here. Until next time viewers keep on Viewing
