Staring Brad Pitt, Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones and directed by Guy Ritchie, this was a follow up to the 1998 Guy Ritchie film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. This is a grate film but not one for the kids. The thing that stud out the most in this film was Brad Pitts accent which was really funny. All in all this is a grate film too have a few friends over and have a laugh with or you could watch by your self rather way you are in for a good time.

As the follow up to Ritchie’s Lock Stock and Two Smoken Barrels, which is well worth the watch as well but that is a different film for an other day. All you need to know about snatch is that it is very well written, even better directed and has a top class cast that dose not disappoint.

This weeks TV Rewind is the kids show Goosebumps based on the stores of R.L. Stine’s award-winning book series which places average kids in a weird alternate reality, where they find themselves facings such situations as haunted amusement parks, possessed Halloween masks and other bizarre and frightening scenarios.

Screen Shot 2015-07-09 at 12.29.55

The show originally aired in 1995 and ran until 1998. There was some conterviresy over the content of the show and weather are not it was suitable for younger viewers so it was giving a GB-7 or TV-Y7 rating in the states, which meant that it was not suitable for kids under 7. In England the show was aired on CBBC who heavily censored the show making big cuts to it, are just banning the episode altogether.

The first Goosebumps book was written in 1992 and it was Welcome to Dead House. Between 1992 and 1997 there was 62 books published under the Goosebumps umbrella. And there was 74 episodes in the 4 seasons of the TV show. Goosebumps is coming back in the form of a film. staring Jack Black as R.L. Stine. It is out in cinemas October 16th.

I remember watching Goosebumps on Cartoon Network most of the shows were entertaining to watch but some of them just scared the hell out of me and sure wasn’t that half the fun.

Do you remember Goosebumps let me know, leave a comment below. You can check out last weeks TV Rewind here. If you would like to suggest a show for next weeks TV Rewind just leave your suggestion in the comment box below. Thanks for reading I will see you all next week until then keep on Viewing.

The Cult Film Phenomenon
Aaron Tansey

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 22.20.03

The idea of a “cult” film is a fantastic ideal of the passionate cinema lover, at its base the phrase “cult following “refers to a group of fans who are highly dedicated to a single area of culture.

This phenomenon creates a great sense of camaraderie amongst complete strangers and close friends alike, a uniquely Irish example would be the infamous Father Ted series, aired 1995-1998 still has a stranglehold on Irelands funny bone, in any Irish crowd of more than fifty people as they begin to hush for a speaker or event there will always be at least one person who loudly proclaims”Fuckin’ Hell” just before the murmuring finishes, a testament to the infamous rigging of the King of the Sheep contest.

There are many famous examples of “cult followings” be they cheesy quotes “AAAAAAADRIAAAAN” or just awesome quotes” That’ll do pig, that’ll do.”

However the underground cult followings are truly a wierd and wonderful experience.

Possible one of the greatest and worst films of the last decade has been Tommy Wisseau’s” The Room”, a film I personally can’t remove from my train of thought, so incredibly terrible in EVERY.SINGLE.POSSIBLE.WAY. is accidentally hilarious, thus adding credibility to the saying “If you fail hard enough, it might just become a wining fail.”

Fans of this film will wear tuxedoes, throw American footballs at each other and throw spoons at the screen, this is due to the fact that these events happen by the characters in the film, for no reason and with absolutely zero reference to the plot, when asked about this unusual scene, director Tommy Wiseau answered “football is fun and that playing it without protective gear is a challenge”

The cult phenomenon in cinema is more of an expression of self through the actions and words of the characters, total story immersion or in some cases disbelief, is carried from the experience and leaks into peoples lives, people who have had a similar experience to the same film will catch upon it immediately, resulting in many different tributes to the film in question.

Some things you can try in Public!

  • Sing the opening lines to Afternoon Delight in front of 3 friends
  • Tell your friend Luke to “use the force”
  • When picking up something used the “Bend and Snap” Technique

The possibilities are endless!
