Hi and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind. If this is your first time reading TV Rewind, then welcome. The Idea of TV Rewind is to look back at some of the shows that we used to watch growing and maybe still watch today. This week is no different.

This week we are going back to 1987 and we are taking a look at Star Trek The Next Generation.

Star Trek The Next Generation was the follow up too the original Star Trek show. It first aired in 1987 and ran fro 7 years and 4 movies. The show stared Patrick Stewart, Wil Wheaten, and  Whoopi Goldberg to name a few. It was set 70 years after the end of original Star Trek finished. This was the sixth crew to take charge of the famous Enterprise.

The show enjoyed the same success that followed the original show and became one of NBC’s most watched show on their network. It ran for  over 170 episodes.

The show was cancelled after the seventh season which was a shock to the cast and crew because it was enjoying constantly high ratings, plus the cast was contracted for an eight season. Many believe it was cancelled because the cost of wages would get to expensive also there was movies planed and the network taught the movies would perform better if there wasn’t a show on at the same time.

When the Next Generation came out it cause a divide in the Star Trek fans. They could not agree on who was a better captain, was it Captain Kirk, Star Trek Original (William Shatner) or Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) Which was your favourite let me know by leaving a comment below.

If you haven’t read our Sunday Recovery before let me take to tell you about it. At the weekend there are 2 types of people the people who go out on a Saturday night and the ones that don’t go out. So each week I write a blog for the people that stay in on a Saturday night and call it the Saturday Night Stay In Movie, it is what it sounds like, I make a suggestion of a movie to watch, to the people staying in. Well then it was only fare that I do a blog for the people that do go out on a Saturday night and I called it the Sunday Recovery (check out some of the Sunday Recovery Here.) The Sunday Recovery is where I suggest a show to bing on generally it Is going to be on Sky or Netflix and you can spend all day watching it and forgetting about the hang over you are suffering through.

So with that in mind this weeks Sunday Recovery is How I Met Your Mother. Most of you will have heard of How I Met Your Mother, but there might be a small percentage of you who haven’t so I will give you a run down of what it is about. It is set in the future with a father telling his kids about how he met there mother, so the whole show is done in flash backs. There are 5 friends Ted, Marsha, Branny, Lilly, and Robin living in New York and trying to navigate life while trying to find some go throw life with. The show is very funny and the situations they find themselves in makes for good TV.

My favourite is Branny he Is a womaniser that fails more then he scores and watching the scams he comes up with to try and get women to sleep in as funny as they are scary. I will have to warn you the first 5 seasons are very good but form the sixth season on it is hit and miss but you are already drawing into the show so you can’t stop watching at that stage, so if you do start watching it be prepared to go the whole 9 seasons, you have been warned.

Hi Viewers and welcome to this week TV Rewind. We are going back to the late 90’s its a sitcom and no it’s not Friends we did that all ready check it out here. We are going to take a look back at The Hughleys, I don’t know if it was that popular in Ireland but it was pretty big in the States. The Hughleys was about a successful black businessman who movies his family from south central to a mainly white neighbourhood in the San Fernando Valley. it stared funny man D.L.Hughley as the father and Elise Neal as the mother.

The reason I started watching The Hughleys was because I had seen Hughley in an other great show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. This show aired for one season in 2006 and that where I first scene Hughley. shortly after the Studio 60 was cancelled one of the channels on sky (I cant remember which one) start showing The Hughleys and that when I started watching it and I loved it. It was a fish out of water show and the way Hughley tried to remember where he came from and also fit in with his new community got him into very funny situations.  The fourth season ended in 2002 with a cliff hanger 2 part series finale, but the show was cancelled due to poor ratings. Here is a the intro to remind you about the Hughleys

Do you remember this show if you do let me know what you taught of it bye leaving a comment below. You can check out last weeks TV Rewind here. Thanks for reading we are taken a brake for a while but TV Rewind will be back in 2016, until then keep on Viewing.
