Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie (S.N.S.I.M). For those of you that don’t know what the S.N.S.I.M is I will tell you.

On a Saturday night there are two groups of people. The first group are the ones that go out and party with their friends are just go out for dinner with their partners. The second group of people are the ones that stay in on a Saturday night for what ever reason. Well I write this blog of the second group of people.

I chose a movie that you can watch to pass the time. This week is no different.

This week I am going with a classic family favourite, Shrek.

It has been over 15 years since the release of Shrek in cinemas, and everyone fell in love with Donkey and Sherk and Fiona. I don’t think there is many people out there that hasn’t seen Shrek but just in case here is the ruff outline of the story.

Screen Shot 2016-08-26 at 16.32.22

Shrek is an ogre that live in a swamp and he loves how quite it is until the swamp get over run by fairy tails that have got kicked out of the nearby by Lord Fraquaad. To save his home and Shrek makes a deal with Fraquaad to rescue Princess Fiona who is trapped in a tower protected by a dragon. Shrek sets on his quest to save Fiona and he has unlikely sidekick for his mission, a talking Donkey.

Screen Shot 2016-08-26 at 16.27.01

This is the sort of movie that the whole family can sit down and enjoy together. Mike Myers voices Shrek with Eddy Murphy as Donkey and Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona. As I said the movie is great but it also has a brilliant sound track as well, so you will be laughing and tapping you foot along to the songs.

The first Shrek movie took in over 480 million at the world wide box office which made sure that there was going to be more Shrek movies and there was. There was four more movies and a spin off movie in Puss in Boots.

I think this is one of my favourite animated movies of the 2000s. It s funny both kids and adults can enjoy it over all its a great family movie to sit down and watch on a saturday night.

If you have seen Shrek before let me know what you taught of it by leaving a comment in the comment box  below. If you would like to suggest a movie for next weeks S.N.S.I.M you can leave your suggestion in the comment box. You can also check out last weeks S.N.S.I.M HERE. Hi and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind for those of you who might not have heard of TV Rewind before its simple. We take a look back at all the show that have come and gone over the years that we might have forgotten. This week is going to be no different.

This week on TV Rewind we are going to be taking a look back at Sister Sister.

The show was about twin sisters who were separated at birth and adopted by two separate parents. One sister was adopted by a single mother and the other sister was adopted by a couple but soon after the adoption the mother died.

Fourteen years later they find each other and hatch a plan to get back together. Their plan works and they all move in together. which only leads to friction between the two parents who have different views on how to raise there child.

Screen Shot 2016-08-25 at 09.27.03

Lisa is mother to Tia a intelligent girl who lives in the inner city Detroit while Tamera is a bit more of a free sprite who lives with her father, Ray in the suburbs.

When the twins get to live together they start making up for lost time as been sisters.

My sister used to watch this show when she was younger and I have to admit I like watching it as well, but the alternative was doing  my homework so I would have watched the grass grow apposed to doing my homework.

In saying that the show was funny. The contrast between Tia (the Smart one) and Tamera (the not so smart one) was very entertaining. while the contrast of Lias (the laid back mother) and Ray (the hard working father) was just as funny and don’t forget about Rodger the boy next door that is in love with the girls and keeps getting shot down as he tries to get one of the girls to go on a date with him.

Screen Shot 2016-08-25 at 09.29.30

This was an entertaining show that lasted for six seasons spanning 119 episodes. It first aired in 1994 and aired its last episode in 1999.

Do you remember Sister, Sister? If you do let me know what you taught about it by leaving a comment on the comment box below. Its that time of the week agin, its time for this week TV Rewind, and for those of you new to TV Rewind the Idea is simple we take a look back at the shows that I used to watch when I was younger. This is the 37th edition of TV Rewind you can look back at all the other blog post here. This week the word wide phenomenon Pokemon Go was launched in Ireland and just like the rest of the world it has people out of their house chasing Pokemon in the real world, (it is a cool Idea and it gets people out and about) and then you have to train your Pokemon and become a Pokimaster (I hope I have got that right if not let me know by leaving a comment in the comment box below) what some of the younger kids might not know is that Pokemon started life as a Japanese trading card game in 1996 which what developed into a TV series in 1997. There is over 16 seasons of Pokemon made up of over 900 episodes, and 18 TV movies

I have to admit, this is one of the first TV Rewinds that I did not watch when I was child, but I have a general idea what was going on.  The show follows a young Japanese boy who want to become a Pokemon master. His first Pokemon was Pikachu. After a rocky start the two become friends and Pikachu fellows Ash on his travels through the Pokemon leagues to become a Pokemon Master. The shows are broken up into different story lines just like the video games. There was also a number of spinoffs which I know nothing about so I won’t even try and write anything about them.

Screen Shot 2016-07-21 at 15.20.48Screen Shot 2016-07-21 at 15.20.59

I was just a bit to old to have get into Pokemon but I remember that it was a big deal. The trading card game was just also big but nothing like the what is happing now with Pokemon Go. I can understand the appeal of Pokemon Go you get the chance to go out and become a part of the Pokemon world (if there was an app where you could become part of Power Rangers world I would download it). With the success of the Pokemon Go the show is becoming popular again also there is talk about Pokemon getting a live action movie as well.

Did you watch Pokemon when you were growing up, what did you think about it, let me know by leaving a comment below in the comment box. If you would like to suggest a show for next weeks TV Rewind you can leave you suggestion in the comment box. You can also check out last weeks TV Rewind here. Hi and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind. If you are new to TV Rewind it is simple we take a look back at all the shows that we used to watch when we were kids 80’s 90’s. We have gone through a lot of shows since we have started doing TV Rewind but don’t worry there is still a lot more shows out there. This week we are taking a look back at Sabrina The Teenage Witch. I think most people I knew watched this show but some wouldn’t admit it because they were too cool to watch it. I didn’t really give a dame I watched it.

The show was about a teenage girl who is sent to live with her ants, who tell her that she is a witch and that she will have to learn how to control her powers and figure out the family secret if she is to become a full licensed witch. O and I forgot to tell ye about there talking cat who was a witch that broke the rules of the witches council and as punishment got turned into a cat for the rest of his long long life. It was a comedy show that went for cheap laughs (which worked) and had a leading lady that a lot of people had a crush on (including me) so the show worked on a few levels.

Screen Shot 2016-07-14 at 12.26.03

The show came from the comic book Archie. It aired for the first time in 1996, to over 17 million people, and ran for 7 seasons (the first 3 4 on ABC and the last 3 on The WB). The first four seasons dealt with Sabrina in high school and dealing with her powers and and everyday life and the last 3 seasons dealt with Sabrina in collage and hiding her powers from her room mates and work mates. By the time the third season had started I had growing out of the show and lost interest in it so I can’t really say what the later seasons were like but judging by the drop in ratings it must not have being any good.

Screen Shot 2016-07-14 at 12.28.09

The show finished in 2003 with ratings of only 3 million a big drop from the first show and its 17 million. Do you remember Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, What did you think of the show? Did you watch all 7 seasons? let me know by leaving a comment below in the comment box. If you would like to suggest a show for next weeks TV Rewind just leave you suggestion below. You might not have read this before so let me fill you in on this weekly post. The way I look at it there are 2 types of people on a Saturday night and they are the people that go out and party and then you have the people who do not go out and party. Now there is nothing wrong with staying in on a Saturday night you might have to because you have kids and a wife are you have no money, I could go on but I won’t. I write this post each week for the people how don’t go and party. I give you a suggestion of a movie to watch each weekend. (you can check out some of the past movies here)

So each week I choose a movie at random some time it can be family movies other time it will be movies just for the grown ups. Well this week I have gone with a classic movies that the whole family can enjoy. This week I have picked the Jim Carrey classic Liar Liar. So  the film stars Jim Carrey as a lawyer who can’t stop laying. He is also a husband and father who has to end up disappointing his son one to many time. So when he misses his sons birthday because of work he son makes a wish that his father won’t be able to tell an other lie. This leads to some very funny moments of the movie.

Screen Shot 2016-06-10 at 12.28.26

This is a classic Carrey movie, he is brilliant in it. His animated way of acting was perfect for this part. I know I am sounding a bit busiest to this movie but if was one of my favourite when I was growing up. That doesn’t mean it is not a good movie it has a 81% popularity rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I really enjoy this movie and can’t wait to watch it again. If you have seen it before let me know what you taught of it by leaving a comment in the comment box. you can also check out last weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie Here. Hi Viewers it is a bit late but here it is, its time for TV Rewind if you are new to Viewit and haven’t heard of of TV Rewind before it is very simple we take a look back at TV shows that have gone off the air for the last few years. You can check out other TV Rewinds from the past year and a half, here. This weeks we are taking a look back at a show that I loved when I was younger.

Screen Shot 2016-06-03 at 12.16.00

Its the Animaniacs. The Animaniacs was a variety show hosted by the Waner brothers Yako, Wako and there sister Dot as you can see for the intro above. The show was full of pop culture slap stick comedy. There was many charters in the show as it was set on the lot of Warner Brothers lot. The 3 siblings would escape there home in the Warner Brothers water tower and make as much trouble as they could. The Animaniacs was the show that fallowed on form Tiny Toon Adventure. The thing that made Animaniacs popular was that the writers wrote comedy for the parents as well as the kids so the parents could sit down and watch the show as well and not be board or think about the dirty dishes that need washing. The way they did this was through parodies of films and shows for example one recurring segment was called Goodfeather which was a reference to the crime moves Goodfells and Godfather.

I was six years old when Animaniacs first aired and I love it because I had watched Tiny Toons as well. I remember watching the Warner kids running around the place having fun and just make as much trouble as possible (I grew up in the country so I had plenty of chance to get myself into trouble). The Aninmanincs also made fun of other companies and there shows like Disney and its films and they also made fun of the Power Rangers which was a competing show. What I didn’t know about the show was that Steven Spielberg was the executive producer on the show.

It is the sort of show that you could watch today and enjoy still. It was in the middle of the 90’s which was the golden age of Warner Brother animation with show like Pinky and the Brain, Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, and Taz-Mania. What did you think of Animaniacs let me by leaving a comment bellow. You can check out last weeks TV Rewind Here. I was at my cousins hows at the weekend and she has 3 young boys and they were watching cartoons and the Disney Channel, now all I could think was wow this really sucks, Cartoons were much better back in my day. Now I know what you are going to say those show are for kind not for a grown man like me. Well it wasn’t the content that I had a problem it was the look of the show it was computer animated. I didn’t like the look of it. I much preferred the look of the cartoons that were made in the 90’s.

Screen Shot 2016-05-31 at 11.31.09Screen Shot 2016-05-31 at 11.31.58

The big main channels back in my day for were Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney. With show like Tiny Toons, Taz-Maina, Animaniacs, Resess, ect. These were the show that I grew up with and they were drawing by had not like most of the cartoons these days (Disclaimer I have not seem all cartoons ever made after 2000’s so I can not comment on the way how all cartoons are made, if there are cartoons out there that are still had drawing and my comment has upset you then I apologise and would be grateful if you could list the cartoons that you know of as being had drawing in the comment box below thank you.)

When I was growing up my favourite show were made by Warner Brothers as I listed already Tiny Toons, Pinky and the Brain and Pinky, Elmyra and The Brain. These show didn’t talk down to the kids and they just had fun with them, a lot of the show also had jokes in there for the adults as well so the parents didn’t mind watching it as well. I loved these shows that they were very entertaining and my parents love them as well because when they were on they knew where i was but once they were over I was up and running around the back field s with the dog and up to general mischief. One cartoon i nearly forgot was Tom and Gerry The Cat and mouse that destroyed the house every time they were chancing each other but this was changed and watered down because it promoted violence.

Screen Shot 2016-05-31 at 11.26.49

There isn’t many places that you can watch reruns and relive you childhood memories, If you know of any place where these cartoons and other classic cartoons are shown let me know by leaving the comment below, also let me know what was you favourite cartoons back in the day. Let me know what you Cartoon was your favourite by leaving a comment below. Thanks for reading until next time keep on Viewing.

Hi everybody how are you all keeping. It has being a while since I have done one of these but there has been so many people asking for me to bring it back I couldn’t ignore any more, so here it is the second season of Saturday Night Stay In Movie, I hope you enjoy. So the first movie that I am going to recommend for the Saturday Night Stay In Movie is the 2011 Real Steel, staring Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo and Evangeline Lilly.

Not a lot of people seem to know about Real Steel, to tell you the truth I’m not surprised because it is a filling about faint radio controlled robots in a boxing ring. Tell you the truth I didn’t want to watch it either. In the end i was talked into watching it and I tell you this I am glad they did talk me into watching this movie because it was really good.

Screen Shot 2016-05-07 at 13.08.40

Hugh Jackman plays a retired prizefighter (retired because boxing was band). Instead of humans fighting giant robots get in the ring to duke it out and they are controlled by remote control. It is big money which takes Jackman all around the country. There is a spanner throwing in the works when Jackmans son comes to visit and ends up being brought to these fights as well.

Screen Shot 2016-05-07 at 13.08.54

Ok so I have talked al lot about  the fighting robots, (but that is because its is cool) but this is not the main part of the story. The robots are just the back drop to the main story of a man trying to find common ground with his sun and survive in a world that he is not quite sure he wants to be in.

As always Jackman is outstanding in this movie and you cant help but like his character even though he is clearly flawed. Goyo also puts in a good performance as the son who brings his father kicking and screaming into the new world. Over all this a good movie that if you have not seen yet you should defiantly watch. You can even show it to the kids they will really like the robots. I give this movie 4 out 5.

Let me know what you taught of it by leaving a comment below. you can also check out the last Saturday Night Stay In Movie here. Last week I wrote up a blog post about being a Disney Baby (check it out here). Looking back over some of my favorite Disney movies I started to wonder what the new Disney movies were like so I went on a mission to watch a new Disney (anything since 2000). I wasn’t sure which one I was going to watch. I was thinking about Monsters University, Cars, Wall E, or Up but I settled on the movie that was the most successful movie for Disney in the last 20 years if not ever, Frozen. You read it correctly Frozen. Any parents out there will know all to well about frozen because I sure it has being played over and over again. I did not have a lot of hope for this movie I taught it was going to be boring and a chore to sit through. What I found was the opposite. I found it an entertaining movie, granted I had nothing better to be doing but still it was a fun movie.

Frozen1

I taught it went back to the old style Disney cartoons with silly charters and catchy songs. For the small amount of you out there that have not seen the film, it is about 2 sisters princesses (Elsa and Anna). Elsa has magical powers to control winter (ice and snow, ect) after a accident while playing with Anna has her mind wiped of any trace of Elsa’s powers and Elsa how fells bad about hurting her sister locks herself up and tries to control her Powers. After her parents die she has to take the throne and she has to hide her powers from her kingdom no but it doesn’t go so well for her.

There was a nice mix of a song, comedy and a love story in this movie. If you haven’t seen the movie there is still a good chance that you have hear the song Let it Go as it had radio play all over the world and place well in charts all around the world as well.

The comedy in frozen was supplied by Olaf the talking snowman and Sven the pet rain dear. Olaf was very funny in this movie and brought some funny moments when thing got scary for the other charters. Sven, the reindeer, is also a very funny character in the movie portraying the characteristics of a dog more so then a reindeer.

Screen Shot 2015-12-11 at 17.38.24

All in all I can under stand why this movie is one of the biggest animated movies of all time. This is one that the kids and the adults can watch together. Have you seen Frozen let me know what you taught of it by leaving a post below.

I am a Disney Baby. If you were born in the late 80’s early 90’s you too might very well be a Disney baby. I covered this a bit in an article I wrote a few weeks ago Why I’m interested in TV and Film. (read it here) What is a Disney Baby? What I consider as a Disney Baby is someone that grew up watching Disney movies like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Robin Hood, Pete’s Dragion, Bed Nobs and Broom Sticks and so on.

Screen Shot 2015-12-07 at 18.17.41

This time is what I would consider as the golden age of Disney. A lot of the movies that I mentioned at the start were oringaly released and did well for Disney but they were rereleased around the 80’s and 90’s for a new generation and the thing that made these films so popular were because the parents had growing up with these films and now they got to share these movies with their kids.

Also the stories are timeless and lots of them have some catchy songs along with them.

One of my favourite Disney was The Lion King. It was a good story of struggle and standing up for what was right as well as that it was funny and had some great songs like the Circle of Life. The 2 charters I liked the most was Timone and puma. An other filmed I love was Robin Hood the Disney take on the classic animated tale had animals playing the roles to.

Screen Shot 2015-12-07 at 18.20.11

I think that if these movies were released today they would still be a big hit and would gain a new generation of fans. I know they have released one or two of the movies not so long ago but what Disney have started doing now is turning their animated movies into live action movies like Cinderella and the Jungle Book and plans to do the same to Dumbo and others.

Were you a Disney baby let me know what your favourite Disney movie by leaving a comment below and what Disney would you like to be made into a live action film.
