Last night was the first time in a long time that I got to go to the cinema to watch a a movie. I missed a lot of good movies so let me know what ones I should try and catch up on.

The movie I went to see was Doctor Strange now I was not looking forward to this movie what so ever. I hadn’t read any of the comics, all I knew about the film was that is was about sorcerers (I don’t know if that is the right word never mind if I spelt it correctly or not) So why did I go and see it I hear you asking and the answer is simple. I didn’t want to see Guardians of the Galaxy either because it have a talking racoon that love guns in the movie, but I went to see it anyways and the I loved the movie and the talking racoon that loved guns turned out to be the best part of the movie.

So what Im trying to say is that Marvel have a way of turning the ridicules into something everyone can enjoy, so yes I gave them the benefit of the doubt. As I was watching the first scene I was thinking o god what did I let myself in for. It looked like a cross between Inception and the Green Lantern.

So I settled in for the long haul. All I could do was think of bad things to say about the movie like Cumberbatch charter was a dick and how was he ever going to make a joke. (Marvel movies success comes partly from the humor in there movies) As the movie went on and it started to explain the world that it was set in I started to enjoy the movie. The fight scenes where very good and special effects were top class and with Cumberbatch playing the lead role I knew that Marvel had an other hit on there hands.

The rest of the world must think so as well because the world wide takings for Doctor Strange is nearly $500 million. Doctor Streang is a very good addition to the Marvel Universe and it will be interesting to see him interact with all the other heroes. we got a sneak peek of how an encounter would go at the end of the titles as Doctor Strange has a chat with Thor and the results are great. The little sneak peek also hint that we will see Doctor Strange in Thor: Ragnarok which is due out in 2017

Over all I loved this movie and would highly recommend it to any marvel fans and even if you not a marvel and have never seen any of their 13 movies beforehand don’t worry you will still be able to fellow along. Have you seen Doctor Strange yet if you have let me know what you taught about it but leaving a comment int he comment box below. You can also check out our last post here. Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie (S.N.S.I.M). For those of you that don’t know what the S.N.S.I.M is I will tell you.

On a Saturday night there are two groups of people. The first group are the ones that go out and party with their friends are just go out for dinner with their partners. The second group of people are the ones that stay in on a Saturday night for what ever reason. Well I write this blog of the second group of people.

This week I have chosen The Dark Night.

The Dark Night is the second in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Night Trilogy. The Dark Night Trilogy was hailed as one of the best tellings of the Batman story. In my opinion the Dark night is the best out of the 3 movies. The reason I say this is because of one man and its not Christopher Nolan, or Christen Bale but because of the the performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker.

Screen Shot 2016-09-02 at 17.40.00

He was able to portray what I taught was the perfect Joker. He was crazy and evil but the things he did was because he wanted to have fun which makes him even more dangerous. It was great to watch.

I said earlier that I didn’t watch the movie because of Christopher Nolan or Christen Bale but don’t get me wrong they too made the film brilliant. Nolan’s vision for the movie was spot on and I taught that even with the movie lasting over 2 hours the was it was paced it didn’t fell like that long.

Christen Bale’s performance as billionaire/supper hero was solid as well.

As I said before this is one of my favourite Batman movies for many reasons but one that I can’t forget to talk about is the action in the movie from car cases to fights to explosions this has the perfect mixture of drama story telling and action.

My Opinion: Marvel V DC

Hi everyone and welcome to an other My Opinion. This week I will be giving My Opinion on the battle between Marvel and DC. This riverily has been going on for a long time. DC Comics was created in 1934 while Marvel was created in 1939.

We are not here to talk about the comics, Im here to talk about the TV shows and movies.

DC was the first to turn one of its comics into live action show. It did so in 1943 with Batman, but it only ran for 1 season. For years DC put out movies and TV shows while Marvel mainly stuck to comic books. That all changed in 2008 with the release of Iron Man staring Robert Downey Jr.

This was the first movie from Marvel Studios in what they like to call the Marvel Universe. The idea behind the Marvel Universe is that all the movies they make will be tied together with the characters like Iron Man, showing up in a Captain America movie and so on. This was one of the first times for a studio to do this ( I could be wrong here let me know by laving a comment below)

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.23.02

DC on had being putting out stand alone movies for a while with varying degrees of success. With some good movies like RED, Losers, and the Batman Trilogy. They have also had a lot of failures as well with the likes of Green Lantern, Batman VS Superman and Steel.

From this DC has taken a page from Marvels book and decided make their own shared movie universe. Which started with Batman VS Superman. The movie had one of the biggest opening weeks of the year, but sadly that is where the good news stopped. It got slammed by critics and it had a drop of in revenues of nearly %70. It needed to take in over 800 million to break even. It took in 875 million. 75 million is nothing to turn your nose up at but in movie terms it isn’t a great return.

On the other side nearly every Marvel movies have being making money hand over first and it just keeps building.

DC has had a saving grace in its universe in the from of Suicide Squad, which was again slammed by critics but the fans loved it bringing its profit to over 300 million. DC looks to bring this success to its planned movies in the universe like the Batman movie, a Wonder Woman movie, a Flash movie, Aquaman movie and then bringing all this characters together for a one giant movie, The Justice League.

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.24.30

This is what Marvel did with the Avengers. In my opinion Marvel has the upper hand when it comes to the big screen. This is not the only place where Marvel and DC go head to head.

The two companies also have TV shows based on their characters. DC have Arrow, The Flash, Supper Girl, and Legends of Tomorrow. All these show interact with each other like the movies but they are kept separate from the movie world and in some cases like the flash you have different actors playing the same character in the movie world and the TV world.

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.22.28

Where in contrast to this you have the Marvel TV world which consist of Agents of Shield, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luck Cage, Punisher, Iron Fist and The Defenders. These shows run in the same world as the movies. This is something I like because when the movies are over you can watch the shows and feel like the story is still progressing.

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.21.14

In my opinion I think that the Marvel Universe is better then the DC Universe, mainly because Marvel did a better job in plaining it out their universe, and DC are now trying to play catch up and are putting anything they can out there with out putting the proper plaining into it. In saying that Marvel is coming to the end of its planed movie slate and it hasn’t giving us much insight on what it is going to do to continue the story, where as I said DC is only starting out and it still has time to get its house in order and make a good Universe.

There you have it for a other week. Let me know what you think of My Opinion by leaving a comment in the comment box below. you an also check out last weeks In My Opinion HERE. Thanks for reading until next time keep on Viewing.

VIP TV Show Series - Opening Credits Theme - Pamela Anderon thumbnail

Hi and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind. If this is your first time reading this blog it is very simple, we take a look back at some of the show that have form the 80’s 90’s and the naughties.

I had forgotten about this show that I am going to talk about what made me remember it was the fact a few friends and I were talking about TV Rewind over a few drinks in the local, and they brought up this one.

Its VIP starring Pamela Anderson. Anderson stared as Vallery Irons, a girl who actadently saved a celaberty and then get hired to be the face of a protection agency.  The show was a mixture of action and comedy and proved popular. VIP first aired in 1998 and ran for four seasons made up of 88 shows Each week you got to see Anderson stumble her way through cases while her team does most of the heavy lifting. Each show usually ended up in a gun fight.

Screen Shot 2016-08-18 at 13.54.12

I had forget all about this show, but when it was brought up I remember how much I loved it. I was 12 when the first episode aired and like most young boys at that stage (and men) I was in love with Pamela Anderson. There was one problem it was showing in Ireland at seven o’clock on a Saturday night. The reason this was a problem was the fact that mass was on at the same time so I had to go to mass and miss the show a good bit.

I haven’t seen an episode but one thing that I do remember is that when you sit down to watch this show don’t be expecting any great thought provoking story lines are anything thought provoking at all, just sit back watch some good looking people blow stuff up and make some cheap jokes. Over all it is an enjoyable hour of TV. Here is the opening credits check it out.

Did you watch VIP when it was on, if you did, let me know what you taught about it by leaving a comment in the the comment box below. If you would like to suggest a show for next weeks TV Rewind you can leave your suggestion in the box below. You can also check out last weeks TV Rewind HERE. Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. We have been doing this blog for a while now but we are still getting new people reading it each week so this is for the new readers. There are 2 types of people on a Saturday night the people that go out partying and having a good time, and then there are the people that don’t go out (for whatever reason), well this blog is for the second group of people. I give you a suggestion on a movie that you can watch to pass the time.

This week I am going with an all action movie Battle Field LA. This isn’t going to be everyones cup of tea but as I said this is just a suggestion. The Story is based around a SSgt Nantz (played by Aaron Eckhart) who is about to retire from the core when meteors start falling from space and the world quickly finds out that it is no meteor shower it is in fact an alien invasion. Nantz is sent to a platoon that is sent behind enemy line to clare out the civilians from a police station and get them back to the FOB (forward operating base) before the Air Force bomb the coastline of LA. Their rescue helicopter gets shoot down, so they have to find there own way out of the bombing zone.

Screen Shot 2016-07-22 at 11.15.54

This is one of my favourite action movies because it takes a lot of things that I like and puts it into the one movie. It is an army movie, an invasion, a Sci fi movie and a survival movie. One of my favourite show is Stargate because it put the US army against aline forces who are stronger but the army keeps fighting anyways, and that is exactly what Battlefield LA is about. The action sequence are very good and looks great. It is one of those movies that you should just sit back and enjoy and not think to hard about it. When Battlefield came out first it got slated by the critics but I was glad  that I didn’t listen to them because I really enjoyed the movie. The thing about critics is that everyone is different and like different films so it is really only an opinion of one person.

Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. Now most of you will know what this is about but I will explain to the people that don’t know what the Saturday Night Stay In Movie is about. It is quite simple, there is two types of people on a Saturday night the people that go out parting and the people that stay in for what ever reason, well this blog is for the second group of people on a Saturday night the ones that stay in for what ever reason. I suggest a movie that you can watch to pass the time, see didn’t I tell you it was simple.

Well this week we are going al the way back to 2001 for our Saturday Night Stay In Movie. It is The Last Castle. In my mind this is one of the most underrated movies ever (but that is just my opinion) It stars Robert Retford, James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo, and Delroy Lindo. Retford stars as Lieutenant General Eugene Irwin, a legendary solder who on his last mission disobeyed a direct order from the commander and chief ( the President) and got 8 of his men killed. He was sentence to 10 years in the Castle Military Prison. He just wanted to keep his head down and do his time but it becomes clare that he has and other battle to fight this time agents the warden of the person Col. Winter (James Gandolfini), who is ruling over the prison.

Screen Shot 2016-07-15 at 12.15.20Screen Shot 2016-07-15 at 12.15.07

When this came out in 2001 it was meat with mixed reviews and only made 27 million at the world box office, but I think this was due to the fact that 9/11 had just happens a month earlier and the world was not sure what what was going to happen. I didn’t find this film until 2005 when I was looking for a movie to watch in my local extravsion I took a chance on it and Im glad I did I loved it. The acting was top class the story was good and the action was very good. Altho now that I look back at it there was one big hole in the story, How did the prisoners get all the weapons made and hidden while under the watch of the grads. Im sure it was filmed but ended up on the cutting room floor for what ever reason.

Over all this is a good movie that is well acted. I think you will enjoy it. Let me know what you think about it by leaving a comment in the comment box below. Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. For the first time visitors to SNSIM it quite simple, there are two types of people on a Saturday night the ones that go out partying and the the ones that stay in, well this blog is for the second group of people. The people who for whatever reason don’t go out on a Saturday night. I give you a recommendation of a movie that you could watch to pass the time and enjoy for the fraction of the money that the people going out will spend.

This week we are going with an adult only movie for make sure the kids are tucked up in bed before you put this one in the DVD/Blu Ray player. It is Kickass. Kickass is based on a comic book, he is a hero but not like the rest of them. The plot of the  movie goes like this A young teenager who reads comic books decides it looks cool to be a hero so he gets a costume and tries to stop crime. His first outing does not go so well for him as he gets stabbed and then run over by a car, (don’t mess around with that crap it is dangerous) so he breaks nearly every bone in his body and damages his nerve endings so he does feel any pain. once he is recovered he decides to go at it agin (what a stupid idea but leads to some funny stuff) and ends up fighting of 3 gang bangers and it is all caught on camera and he becomes a big deal. This new found fame brings on a whole new load of problems and yet again it leads to some funny stuff.

Screen Shot 2016-06-22 at 15.21.04

Kick ass was first released back in 2010 and became a hit with the critics and movie goers alike. Kickass had a lot of unknown actors in it and one or two pretty big stars in the form of Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Supper Bad) and Nicolas Cage (Face Off). There was also two reactively new comes to the movies in Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz. Both stars have gone on to bigger roles and now considered some of Hollywood’s stars to watch. The combinations of Johns,Moretz and Cage was great they played so well together but Moretz stole the show as hit girl the 11 year old foul mouthed hero who would rather kill you with her knives then play with dolls.

Over all it is a great movie and I highly recommend it you are staying in this weekend. It is full of laughs and action. If you liked Deadpool there is a good chance that you will like Kickass too. Have you seen Kickass before, let me know by leaving a comment in the comment box below. Hi everyone and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie. If this is you first time with us I will give you a quick explanation as to what it is about. The way I see it there is 2 groups of people on a Saturday night the ones the go out and party and the ones that stay in and relax. Well this blog is for the second of those 2 groups. If you stay in on a Saturday night then I want to give you something that you can watch and enjoy to pass the time. (you can check out other Saturday Night Stay In Movies here)

So with that in mind lets get started, this week I went with a good action movie from the 90’s (most action movies from the 90’s were good). The movie is Independence Day, the reason i picked Independence Day is because later on this month (27 June) nearly 20 years to the day of the releases of the first movie the second Independence Day movie will be released. Independence Day is a epic invasion movie. The invaders are aliens from outer space (don’t let that stop you from watching this movie). and it is up to the United States Air Force to save the world (again don’t let that put you off this movie) Independence Day stars Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. This was the movie that shoot smith to supper stardom.

Screen Shot 2016-06-17 at 11.17.47

I was 9 when it first came out and it is one of the first movies I remember seeing with good special effects and I loved it. This was the movie that made me want to get into make films. I wanted to go behind the scenes and see how it was made and the editing I just fell in love with it, for some people it was Schindler’s List for its story telling and the way it was shoot, for me it was Independence Day because it should me no mater how out there your idea for a movies was you could make it happen, which for a boy with as an active imagination as mine was great to know and I just went from there.

Enough about me back to the film as I said the special effects were top class at the time and they still look good today. On top of that Smith was good in it he was funny when he needed to be, but he was able to act serious when need as well and he worked well with Goldblum. Then there was that speech given by the president before the last battle, every time I hear it I get geared up and ready for a battle

Hi everyone we were away for a while but we are back for a other season of TV Rewind.  You can check out all of last years TV Rewinds here. As you can see from the link we have gone through a lot of shows already but that is only the tip of the ice burg,  so sit back as we bring you a new batch of TV Rewind.

We are going to start of with a show that I was obsessed with when it when I was younger. Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Yes I was obsessed with Buffy can you blame me she was a hot girl fighting vampires what was there not to like. But lets give you the background of the show for those of you who forgot about it or those of you to young to have watched the show.

The Idea behind Buffy was that the good looking blond girl was usually the one to run away for scary things and end up getting killed but creator Joss Whendon wanted to turn this notion on its head and make the good looking blond girl the hero that the scary things fare, and it worked but not straight away.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was written by Joss Whendon, who first made it into a Hollywood movie staring Kirsty Swanson. There was friction between Whendon  and the director Fran Rubel Kuzui. Whendon saw the movie as a dark horror with the girl as the hero but Kuzui saw it as pop culture comedy. The script was praised among those in the industry but the movie was slated by everyone. It looked like Buffy was dead.

But Whendon didn’t want to let it go and he took an other shoot at it this time writing it for the small screen, and the show aired on March 10 1997 and ran for 7 years when it finished up on may 20 2003. The reason the show lasted for so long was because of the writing and the way the actors interacted with each other. It was as much a comedy as it was a horror show a drama are a action show.

S4_buffy_slider_group

From the outset the show gained a large loyal audience which help the show stay on for 7 seasons. It didn’t stop when the show ended the story continued in a comic book. To this day you can find reruns of the show all over TV and there is talk of the show being turned into a film again but none of the original cast or crew will be involved, so I don’t have high hopes for this reboot.

What did you think of Buffy the Vampire Slayer let me know by leaving a comment below. If you would like to suggest a show for next weeks TV Rewind all you have to do is leave you suggestion in the comment box below. You can check out the last TV Rewind here. Thanks for reading I hope to see ye all soon until then keep on VIewing.

This weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie is Now You See Me. The reason I am picking this this week is simply because it is a great movie. Lets look at the cast first. Up first is Jesse Eisenberg from the likes of The Social Network, and Zombieland is a very funny guy and top class actor. Next up Isal Fisher who has stares in Wedding Crashers and The Great Gatsby. The you have the every brilliant Woody Harrelson who dons’t really need an introduction niter dose Morgan Freeman. Mark Ruffalo (yes the Hulk is in it) and the only thing that was awful about the last season of Scrubs Dave Franco.

Now-You-See-Me-now-you-see-me-34798393-1600-1200

As you can see it is a very good cast, now the plot of the movie. Four street magicians are brought together by an unknowing person to put on 3 magic show in the first one they rob a french bank while staying in the states, so the FBI gets involved and the cat and mouse game gets underway.

This film image released by Summit Entertainment shows, from left, Isla Fisher and Jesse Eisenberg in a scene from "Now You See Me." (AP Photo/ Summit Entertainment, Barry Wetcher) ORG XMIT: NYET852

I love this movie for so many reasons as you can see first and for most it is because of the cast I love them. They all work so well together, especially Eisenberg and Harrelson who work together on Zombieland which is an other film I could watch over and over again and I do watch it over and over again. They play so well off of each other. I also love the way the film is shoot it looks so stylish and slick. Louis Leterrier, who has directed films like Transporter 1 +2 and Unleashed with Jet Li, is just top class.

Over all you shouldn’t be surprised when I give it Now You See Me 5 out of 5. I just love this movie and what makes it even better is the fact that the second Now You See Me is coming out June 9 this year. I cant not wait for that one.
