The Walking Dead Complants
Aaron Tansey
November 24, 2016

What’s up everyone. I was looking through Facebook last night and I cam over a story for the English Sun newspaper in which is stated that Ofcom (Ofcom are the communication regulator in Britain and they make  sure that shows adhere to the Ofcom Broadcasting Code, you can check out exactly what they are here)

It seems that thousands of complaints where made to the organisation, that the was to much violence in the walking dead season 7 opening episode. The statement released said ” We’er (Ofcom) investigating scenes of a very strong violence shortly after the 9pm watershed, and whether these scenes were Justified by the context.

I have a few questions and thoughts on this so here it goes. First of all it was on after the water shade time of 9pm so at that stage you can expect to see more mature themes on TV. So straight away I have to wonder why people were complaining.

Next The Walking Dead is a very popular show and as I said this was the start of the seventh season so it has being around for a while. As it has being on the air for quite a few years and has had a big following throughout those years I have to ask people how did you not see something like this coming. It is a horror show based in the zombie apocalypse there is going to be blood and gore.

Next point. This show is based on a comic book that has a very big readership, and this was one of the stories coved in the comic books so a lot of people already kew what was going to happen.

Ok I have covered everything I wanted to say to the people that might of being fans of the show and still have complained about it. Now onto the much more likely group of people to have complained about the show, people that might not have seen it or heard about it before.

So first of all the people that might have heard about the show and but never watched it  and taught you might take a look for the first time. IF you were at work and all your work friends were talking about the return of the walking dead and how Negan was going to kill (this would have being a big clue that there was going to be violence) and you didn’t want to be left out, so you decide to watch it.The show is called the walking dead so thats an other big clue. You still don’t have an excuse to be shocked because FX Uk puts up a warning stating that there would be strong violence for the start (this is your third and biggest clue that there will be violence in the show)

Ok this brings me onto the last group of people, the Channel suffers. These are the most likely people to have sent in a complaint about the show. They could being flicking through the channels to watch something and they might have come across the walking dead after the opening credits. I still don’t think they have a reason to complain because as you flick onto a channel it give you the name of the show that is playing and again you decide to stop and watch a show called the walking dead you can’t expect it be to a neature show.

Ok this is the end of my rant I could be wrong about this, let me know what you think by leaving a comment in the comment box below. Thanks for reading.

November 15, 2016

Last night was the first time in a long time that I got to go to the cinema to watch a a movie. I missed a lot of good movies so let me know what ones I should try and catch up on.

The movie I went to see was Doctor Strange now I was not looking forward to this movie what so ever. I hadn’t read any of the comics, all I knew about the film was that is was about sorcerers (I don’t know if that is the right word never mind if I spelt it correctly or not) So why did I go and see it I hear you asking and the answer is simple. I didn’t want to see Guardians of the Galaxy either because it have a talking racoon that love guns in the movie, but I went to see it anyways and the I loved the movie and the talking racoon that loved guns turned out to be the best part of the movie.

So what Im trying to say is that Marvel have a way of turning the ridicules into something everyone can enjoy, so yes I gave them the benefit of the doubt. As I was watching the first scene I was thinking o god what did I let myself in for. It looked like a cross between Inception and the Green Lantern.

So I settled in for the long haul. All I could do was think of bad things to say about the movie like Cumberbatch charter was a dick and how was he ever going to make a joke. (Marvel movies success comes partly from the humor in there movies) As the movie went on and it started to explain the world that it was set in I started to enjoy the movie. The fight scenes where very good and special effects were top class and with Cumberbatch playing the lead role I knew that Marvel had an other hit on there hands.

The rest of the world must think so as well because the world wide takings for Doctor Strange is nearly $500 million. Doctor Streang is a very good addition to the Marvel Universe and it will be interesting to see him interact with all the other heroes. we got a sneak peek of how an encounter would go at the end of the titles as Doctor Strange has a chat with Thor and the results are great. The little sneak peek also hint that we will see Doctor Strange in Thor: Ragnarok which is due out in 2017

Over all I loved this movie and would highly recommend it to any marvel fans and even if you not a marvel and have never seen any of their 13 movies beforehand don’t worry you will still be able to fellow along. Have you seen Doctor Strange yet if you have let me know what you taught about it but leaving a comment int he comment box below. You can also check out our last post here. November 14, 2016

It has being a while since I have written a post, that is because I have being trying to focus more on video content, so hopefully you will start to see some of that coming on line soon.

The reason I want to write this post today was because I was having a conversation with a few on my friends about the TV shows that are on these days and what they taught of them. One show came up that they didn’t like was The Big Bang Theory. Now when I say they didn’t like it Im not talking about the last few seasons which have not being the best, They didn’t like the show at all.

Well I had to ask why on one of the lads said he didn’t like anything made by Chuck Lorre, The Big Bang Theory, Tow and a Half Men, and Mom to say just a few. Again I asks why, what was the reason and he taught about it for a second and then he said its because of the laugh track. He then started name comedy shows that he did like, Veep, Scrubs, Modern Family. when I got home I looked up these shows, and I found out that they have no laugh track.

I watch these shows as well as the one with a laugh track and I never payed any notice to the fact there was or wasn’t a laugh track. They next thing I done was to try and find clips of the shows with laugh track taken out of them. I taught this was going to be hard but it wasn’t and it only took me 1 minute to find

I think that the laugh tracks are put in to tell the audience when its time to laugh. The laugh track treats its audience like sheep and when you here laughing you start to laugh as well. But when a show doesn’t have a laugh track I think the actors have to work harder to sell the jokes and the writers have to work harder to write better jokes as well.

At the end of the day if you laugh at a show and have fun watching it dose it matter if the reason you laughed was because of a laugh track or not. To me not it doesn’t matter but to some people it dose. As I said I don’t care what makes me laugh as long as I laugh and have fun but it is interesting to see the shows that air with laugh track played back with out the laugh track.

What do you think about this, do you care if there is a laugh track or not. Let me know by leaving a comment in the comment box below. Also let me know what is your favourite comedy show with and without a laugh track. Thanks for reading until next time Keep on Viewing.

Hi and welcome to this weeks Saturday Night Stay In Movie (S.N.S.I.M). For those of you that don’t know what the S.N.S.I.M is I will tell you.

On a Saturday night there are two groups of people. The first group are the ones that go out and party with their friends are just go out for dinner with their partners. The second group of people are the ones that stay in on a Saturday night for what ever reason. Well I write this blog of the second group of people.

This week I have chosen The Dark Night.

The Dark Night is the second in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Night Trilogy. The Dark Night Trilogy was hailed as one of the best tellings of the Batman story. In my opinion the Dark night is the best out of the 3 movies. The reason I say this is because of one man and its not Christopher Nolan, or Christen Bale but because of the the performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker.

Screen Shot 2016-09-02 at 17.40.00

He was able to portray what I taught was the perfect Joker. He was crazy and evil but the things he did was because he wanted to have fun which makes him even more dangerous. It was great to watch.

I said earlier that I didn’t watch the movie because of Christopher Nolan or Christen Bale but don’t get me wrong they too made the film brilliant. Nolan’s vision for the movie was spot on and I taught that even with the movie lasting over 2 hours the was it was paced it didn’t fell like that long.

Christen Bale’s performance as billionaire/supper hero was solid as well.

As I said before this is one of my favourite Batman movies for many reasons but one that I can’t forget to talk about is the action in the movie from car cases to fights to explosions this has the perfect mixture of drama story telling and action.

Hi and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind. If this is your first time to be reading TV Rewind then I hope you enjoy it. TV Rewind is where we take a look back at some of the shows that have come and gone off our screens over the years and this week is no different.

This week we are going back to 2004, and taking a look at Deadwood.

Deadwood is set in 1870’s Deadwood, South Dakota. This was after the civil war when South Dakota still belonged to the Native Americans, and before it was annexed to become part of the United States. Because it was not part of the States there was no law in the town of Deadwood, so the people governed themselves.

Screen Shot 2016-09-01 at 11.12.40

At this time Deadwood was in the middle of the gold rush and people from all over the world came to the small mining camp to make their fortune at the mining. Then you had the people that wanted to make their money off the miners, like hotels, salons, hardware stores and so on, but in a town with no laws only the strong and the powerful will survive.

I have only started watching this show recently, but I am glad that I did start watching it because it is one of those shows that was very good but didn’t get the recognition that it deserved.

The way I would describe it would be the Sopranos in the Wilde Wilde West. It has a lot of bad language a lot of violence, and a lot of back stabbing. One of the main characters is Al Swearengen played by Ian McShane. He owns one of the Salons in Deadwood, where he offers drink, girls and gambling.

The other main character is Seth Bullock played by Timothy Olyphant. He was a law man before he and his friend Sol Star (John Hawkes) moved to Deadwood to open a Hardware store. Seth is the complete opposite to Al in every way. He believes in right and wrong and the fare deal never taking more then is owed. Naturally Seth and Al don’t get along with each other. There relationship makes for some great moments.

Screen Shot 2016-09-01 at 11.14.35

There is also a lot of historical figures that show up in Deadwood. The likes of Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jean, and Wyatt Earp and more people like that.

This is one of the show that fans of crime show must watch. I highly recommend it. If you have seen Deadwood let me know what you taught of it by leaving a comment in the comment box below. There is some good news for the fans of the show a Deadwood is in the works so the story is not over yet.

If you would like to suggest a show for next weeks TV Rewind you can by leaving your suggestion in the comment box. You can also check out last weeks TV Rewind HERE. Thanks for watching until next time keep on Viewing.

My Opinion: Marvel V DC
Action Blog

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.19.35

Hi everyone and welcome to an other My Opinion. This week I will be giving My Opinion on the battle between Marvel and DC. This riverily has been going on for a long time. DC Comics was created in 1934 while Marvel was created in 1939.

We are not here to talk about the comics, Im here to talk about the TV shows and movies.

DC was the first to turn one of its comics into live action show. It did so in 1943 with Batman, but it only ran for 1 season. For years DC put out movies and TV shows while Marvel mainly stuck to comic books. That all changed in 2008 with the release of Iron Man staring Robert Downey Jr.

This was the first movie from Marvel Studios in what they like to call the Marvel Universe. The idea behind the Marvel Universe is that all the movies they make will be tied together with the characters like Iron Man, showing up in a Captain America movie and so on. This was one of the first times for a studio to do this ( I could be wrong here let me know by laving a comment below)

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.23.02

DC on had being putting out stand alone movies for a while with varying degrees of success. With some good movies like RED, Losers, and the Batman Trilogy. They have also had a lot of failures as well with the likes of Green Lantern, Batman VS Superman and Steel.

From this DC has taken a page from Marvels book and decided make their own shared movie universe. Which started with Batman VS Superman. The movie had one of the biggest opening weeks of the year, but sadly that is where the good news stopped. It got slammed by critics and it had a drop of in revenues of nearly %70. It needed to take in over 800 million to break even. It took in 875 million. 75 million is nothing to turn your nose up at but in movie terms it isn’t a great return.

On the other side nearly every Marvel movies have being making money hand over first and it just keeps building.

DC has had a saving grace in its universe in the from of Suicide Squad, which was again slammed by critics but the fans loved it bringing its profit to over 300 million. DC looks to bring this success to its planned movies in the universe like the Batman movie, a Wonder Woman movie, a Flash movie, Aquaman movie and then bringing all this characters together for a one giant movie, The Justice League.

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.24.30

This is what Marvel did with the Avengers. In my opinion Marvel has the upper hand when it comes to the big screen. This is not the only place where Marvel and DC go head to head.

The two companies also have TV shows based on their characters. DC have Arrow, The Flash, Supper Girl, and Legends of Tomorrow. All these show interact with each other like the movies but they are kept separate from the movie world and in some cases like the flash you have different actors playing the same character in the movie world and the TV world.

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.22.28

Where in contrast to this you have the Marvel TV world which consist of Agents of Shield, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luck Cage, Punisher, Iron Fist and The Defenders. These shows run in the same world as the movies. This is something I like because when the movies are over you can watch the shows and feel like the story is still progressing.

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 11.21.14

In my opinion I think that the Marvel Universe is better then the DC Universe, mainly because Marvel did a better job in plaining it out their universe, and DC are now trying to play catch up and are putting anything they can out there with out putting the proper plaining into it. In saying that Marvel is coming to the end of its planed movie slate and it hasn’t giving us much insight on what it is going to do to continue the story, where as I said DC is only starting out and it still has time to get its house in order and make a good Universe.

There you have it for a other week. Let me know what you think of My Opinion by leaving a comment in the comment box below. you an also check out last weeks In My Opinion HERE.

I chose a movie that you can watch to pass the time. This week is no different.

This week I am going with a classic family favourite, Shrek.

It has been over 15 years since the release of Shrek in cinemas, and everyone fell in love with Donkey and Sherk and Fiona. I don’t think there is many people out there that hasn’t seen Shrek but just in case here is the ruff outline of the story.

Screen Shot 2016-08-26 at 16.32.22

Shrek is an ogre that live in a swamp and he loves how quite it is until the swamp get over run by fairy tails that have got kicked out of the nearby by Lord Fraquaad. To save his home and Shrek makes a deal with Fraquaad to rescue Princess Fiona who is trapped in a tower protected by a dragon. Shrek sets on his quest to save Fiona and he has unlikely sidekick for his mission, a talking Donkey.

Screen Shot 2016-08-26 at 16.27.01

This is the sort of movie that the whole family can sit down and enjoy together. Mike Myers voices Shrek with Eddy Murphy as Donkey and Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona. As I said the movie is great but it also has a brilliant sound track as well, so you will be laughing and tapping you foot along to the songs.

The first Shrek movie took in over 480 million at the world wide box office which made sure that there was going to be more Shrek movies and there was. There was four more movies and a spin off movie in Puss in Boots.

I think this is one of my favourite animated movies of the 2000s. It s funny both kids and adults can enjoy it over all its a great family movie to sit down and watch on a saturday night.

If you have seen Shrek before let me know what you taught of it by leaving a comment in the comment box  below. Hi and welcome to this weeks TV Rewind for those of you who might not have heard of TV Rewind before its simple. We take a look back at all the show that have come and gone over the years that we might have forgotten. This week is going to be no different.

This week on TV Rewind we are going to be taking a look back at Sister Sister.

The show was about twin sisters who were separated at birth and adopted by two separate parents. One sister was adopted by a single mother and the other sister was adopted by a couple but soon after the adoption the mother died.

Fourteen years later they find each other and hatch a plan to get back together. Their plan works and they all move in together. which only leads to friction between the two parents who have different views on how to raise there child.

Screen Shot 2016-08-25 at 09.27.03

Lisa is mother to Tia a intelligent girl who lives in the inner city Detroit while Tamera is a bit more of a free sprite who lives with her father, Ray in the suburbs.

When the twins get to live together they start making up for lost time as been sisters.

My sister used to watch this show when she was younger and I have to admit I like watching it as well, but the alternative was doing  my homework so I would have watched the grass grow apposed to doing my homework.

In saying that the show was funny. The contrast between Tia (the Smart one) and Tamera (the not so smart one) was very entertaining. while the contrast of Lias (the laid back mother) and Ray (the hard working father) was just as funny and don’t forget about Rodger the boy next door that is in love with the girls and keeps getting shot down as he tries to get one of the girls to go on a date with him.

Screen Shot 2016-08-25 at 09.29.30

This was an entertaining show that lasted for six seasons spanning 119 episodes. It first aired in 1994 and aired its last episode in 1999.

My Opinion: White Washing
Aaron Tansey
August 22, 2016
Screen Shot 2016-08-23 at 11.26.24

There is a few things that I have an opinion on in the TV and Film industry, you might agree with me or you might disagree with me but this is what I think. As I said this is my opinion and that doesn’t mean that I am right or wrong and I welcome people to challenge me because I am open to hearing what people have to say on these maters.

First up I want to talk about whitewashing in hollywood films and casting in general.

Some people might not know what white washing is so here is the definition (correct me if I am wrong) Whitewashing is the practice where a white actor gets cast in a role meant for non-white actors. Here are some examples. Ben Affleck in Argo. He played CIA agent Tony Mendez. This one defiantly doesn’t make sense to me because Argo is based on real life events and Tony Mendez was Hispanic. I know when Hollywood makes true story movies they take some artistic license, but changing the ethnicity of a character is a bit much I think.

Screen Shot 2016-08-22 at 18.21.59

Whitewashing has been happing for a long time as seen in the 1956 epic The Conqueror. The Conqueror told the story of Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan was of Asian decent and the actor that was cast to play him was most defiantly not. John Wayne was cast as the main charter.

Screen Shot 2016-08-22 at 18.23.09Screen Shot 2016-08-22 at 18.24.05

One of the most recent whitewashing hasn’t even come out yet. It is called The Great Wall (Yes the Great Wall of China) a movie set in China and the star of the movie is Matt Damon.

Screen Shot 2016-08-22 at 18.29.21

I think I know why Hollywood contuines this practice , Some of the biggest movie stars in the world are white. The bigger the names you have in a movie the better chance you have of people going to see it. The other reason is because Hollywood makes movies primarily for the US market and the US market will go see a movie with actors they know faster then if there was a star from a different country and ethnic group that they don’t Know.

At this point I would like to point out again that this is my opinion and I could be wrong so let me know what you think.

Now I want to flip it as well because it is starting to go the other way as well with women playing mens roles and Black actors playing roles meant for white people. I think there is good and bad examples of this. First up is Marvel’s Nick Fury. In the comics Fury is White but in the movies he is played by Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson is brilliant as Nick Fury and I can’t see the Character been played by anyone else.

There is also a case of a woman playing a role that was always played by a man. In the popular CBS Show Elementary which tells the story of Sherlock Holmes in modern day America. His assistant Dr Watson is played by Lucy Liu. When I heard about this casting I was sceptical about it but they made it work and now the show is now about to go into its 5th season.

Screen Shot 2016-08-22 at 18.20.21Screen Shot 2016-08-22 at 18.20.58

There are some examples where this hasn’t worked out with the most recent being the Gostbusters reboot. They decided to remake the classic with an all girl team. I didn’t see this movie so I can’t say why it flopped so bad.

With Daniel Craig stepping down from the James bond role there is a lot of speculation about who is going to take over the role. There has be calls for a female James Bond or there has been talk about turning James Bound gay. I think this would be a mistake because since 1953 when the first book came out James Bound was a womanising spy, and I think changing that would mean that it isn’t James Bound anymore.

What I think whitewashing comes down to is what Hollywood thinks will make money. I don’t think that is should be happing as much theses days with the way the movie industry has become a more global business and China becoming a big player in that industry as well. I also think that writers need to stop remaking old movies as much and start trying to come up with more original plots and more diverse characters while Hollywood need to cast more true to the scripts.

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below. Thanks for reading until next time keep on Viewing.
